Reflective Teaching Program
Designed in partnership with Beth Shaffer, MS, CCC-SLP/L
When teachers thrive, students thrive
What is Reflective Teaching?
Reflective teaching is a structured process for teachers to think deeply about their practice in order to gain insight and guide future work. This critical analysis allows teachers to cultivate a clearer understanding of their students’ behaviors, develop strategies to meet individual and classroom needs, and ultimately, enhance their students’ growth and experience at school.
What services does the program offer?
We offer weekly sessions for private school teachers to collaborate with trained specialists in order to engage in the reflective teaching process and develop strategies to meet student needs. We also provide a robust system for documenting student supports offered at school and, when necessary, make referrals for families to seek additional support for their child outside of school.
Why contract this service?
Since private schools are not required to follow the traditional student support model of public schools, they are in a unique position to design their own systems to meet the needs of diverse learners. Private schools who work with the Reflective Teaching Program have access to a comprehensive and proactive support system experienced in filling this gap while remaining flexible to the unique needs of each school.
How can my school afford this program?
By utilizing a top-down approach that prioritizes teachers, the Reflective Teaching Program is able to efficiently serve a vast student population, as each teacher has an impact on many students. The program's support for both teacher and student satisfaction leads to retention of both and, ultimately, cost reduction as a result. Importantly, the program's robust documentation system also provides crucial evidence of comprehensive support efforts in legal cases and demonstrates compliance with accreditation standards, further benefitting the school's financial interests.
Residential Reimagined
Clinical support for community rehabilitation residences (CRR's)
What is Residential Reimagined?
Despite serving a population in need of intensive mental health support, many CRR's do not have clinically trained staff on site. We aim to fill this gap. By providing crucial support to both residents and staff, Residential Reimagined empowers CRRs to create a more therapeutic and empowering environment for all.
What services does the program offer?
We offer individual and group occupational therapy sessions for residents, designed to support them to develop and work towards their self-directed goals. When requested, we may also provide consultative support to on-site staff.
Why contract this service?
While occupational therapy is powerful tool for improving mental health, finding occupational therapists with specialized training in mental health residential programs can be challenging. The positive results we've seen in our program are a testament to the effectiveness of our approach.
How can my CRR afford this program?
Through collaboration with occupational therapy student interns, Residential Reimagined is able to offer full-time services at a significantly reduced cost compared to traditional occupational therapy models. CRRs are only responsible for covering the cost of student supervision, which typically ranges from 8 to 16 hours per week.
