Rachel Barnette, MS
Driven by my personal experience with therapy's healing potential and a deep desire to help people, I became a therapist in order to support others to discover their own inner strength and resilience. My approach centers on fostering self-discovery, processing and building acceptance for challenging emotions, and cultivating self-compassion. I'm particularly adept at helping my clients to explore how past experiences impact their day to day lives and to forge a path to heal from these experiences in order to bring about lasting and positive change.
I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced various forms of trauma, specifically survivors of sexual abuse. I also work with individuals with a spectrum of diagnoses, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and complex grief. I am LGBT+ affirming and a proud member of the LGBT+ community myself. While I bring my own background, identity, experience and skills to the therapeutic relationship, I recognize that everyone is an expert on themselves. As such, I prioritize a collaborative and client-centered approach.
I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology, which provided me with a strong foundation in evidence-based therapeutic modalities. My training emphasized the importance of understanding the complexities of human experience and the impact of systemic factors on mental health. Since graduating, I have dedicated myself to working directly with clients, providing trauma-informed care and facilitating individual growth. I have consistently witnessed the power of therapeutic connection in fostering healing and empowerment, and I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space for my clients to explore their vulnerabilities and build a more fulfilling life.

Watermelon
Watermelon isn't your average office dog. This gentle giant is an integral part of our therapeutic team. With his sweet demeanor and intuitive nature, Watermelon offers unconditional furry companionship. His superpower is creating a safe, welcoming space where even the most guarded hearts can open up.
Studies have shown that interacting with animals can lower stress, anxiety, and blood pressure, and Watermelon's presence certainly contributes to that positive effect. Whether it's a shared laugh over his goofy antics or a quiet moment stroking his soft fur, Watermelon reminds us of the importance of compassion, empathy, and the healing power of the human-animal connection.
